Here is another family recipe handed down from my grandmother. My mother taught me how to make this bread when I was still young. This bread never last very long once I make some. I hope you enjoy it.
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup milk
3 very ripe bananas well mashed
3 cups all purpose flour
2 tbs baking powder
1 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts ( I use English Walnuts )
1 cup chopped dates ( I like to buy whole dates and then them cut up )
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Cream sugar, shortening and butter. add the eggs and bananas. Add the dry ingredients alternating with milk. Add the vanilla, dates and nuts. Bake in 2 prepared loaf pans. Bake for 55 minutes or until done in the middle.
